Now that US Championships are over let's take a look at who would be on the highest scoring team and what each potential athlete brings to the table. Now this has a huge caveat that Shilese Jones did not compete at US Championships and has petitioned straight to trials, but in the awful situation that she does not make a return let's look at the team based on what we saw at championships.
As a reminder the top five for all events using cumulative scores are as follows:
Rank | Vault | Bars | Beam | Floor | AA |
1 | Simone B. | Simone B. | Simone B. | Simone B. | Simone B. |
2 | Skye B. | Jordan C. | Sunisa L. | Kayla D. | Skye B. |
3 | Jade C. | Skye B. | Skye B. | Tiana S. | Kayla D. |
4 | Kayla D. | Sunisa L. | Hezly R. | Joscelyn R. | Sunisa L. |
5 | Jordan C. | Hezly R. | Madray J. | Leanne W. | Jordan C. |
Gymnasts eligible to be selected for team USA from Olympic trials are Simone Biles, Skye Blakely, Jade Carey, Jordan Chiles, Kayla DiCello, Shilese Jones, Suni Lee, Kaliya Lincoln, Eveylynn Lowe, Zoey Molomo, Hezly Rivera, Joscelyn Roberson, Simone Rose, Tiana Sumanasekera, and Leanne Wong.
Average Scores from US Championships
First we will take a look at the team scores based on the average scores for each gymnast from US Championships across both days of competition.
Top 5 All-Around - 174.20 Team Score

Leanne Wong | 14.225 | 13.725 | 12.725 | 13.65 |
Event Scores | 44.475 | 43.35 | 43.675 | 42.70 |
Using Top 2 from each Event - 174.125 Team Score
For once this is actually lower scoring than using the top 5 all-around for the team, which is a bit surprising.
Vault: Simone, Skye, Kayla, Jordan (Prelims)
Bars: Simone, Jordan, Skye, Suni (Prelims)
Beam: Simone, Suni, Skye, Kayla (Prelims)
Floor: Simone, Kayla, Skye, Jordan (Prelims)

Jordan Chiles vs Jade Carey?
If we take the team above and replace Jordan Chiles with Jade Carey then we get the highest team score so far of 174.375.
Vault: Simone, Skye, Jade, Kayla (Prelims)
Bars: Simone, Skye, Jade, Suni (Prelims)
Beam: Simone, Suni, Skye, Kayla (Prelims)
Floor: Simone, Kayla, Jade, Skye (Prelims)
All-Around: Simone, Skye
174.375 | Vault | Bars | Beam | Floor |
Simone Biles | 15.40 | 14.525 | 14.80 | 15.15 |
Skye Blakely | 14.70 | 14.425 | 14.325 | 13.475 |
Sunisa Lee | 13.075 | 14.40 | 14.55 | 13.30 |
Jade Carey | 14.55 | 13.575 | 12.875 | 13.65 |
Kayla DiCello | 14.375 | 13.55 | 13.575 | 13.90 |
Event Scores | 44.65 | 43.35 | 43.675 | 42.70 |
Other Options?
Looking at the above team the lowest contribution is Jade Carey's 13.65 on floor. The gymnasts with a greater than 13.65 average on floor not already listed above from US Championships are Leanne Wong, Joscelyn Roberson with the exact same score as Carey, then Tiana Sumanasekera with a 13.75. If we replace Jade Carey with any of these gymnasts though the team score would drop due to losing Carey's vault score since the other gymnasts all have lower vault averages.
Kayla DiCello is only contributing in floor in the above team, but is not easily replaced since she is the second highest floor average across both days of competition behind Simone.
Highest Scoring Team
With that the highest scoring team from using average scores from US Championships is Simone Biles, Skye Blakely, Sunisa Lee, Jade Carey, and Kayla DiCello with a 174.375.
Highest Scores from US Championships
Now let's see how the highest scoring team stacks up when using the highest scores from US Championships rather than the average scores.
176.10 | Vault | Bars | Beam | Floor |
Simone Biles | 15.80 | 14.65 | 14.80 | 15.20 |
Skye Blakely | 15.00 | 14.425 | 14.45 | 13.75 |
Sunisa Lee | 14.40 | 14.50 | 14.90 | 13.35 |
Kayla DiCello | 14.40 | 14.50 | 14.10 | 13.95 |
Jade Carey | 14.60 | 13.65 | 13.45 | 13.70 |
Event Scores | 45.50 | 43.65 | 44.15 | 42.90 |
Now looking at this team they are definitely weak on floor. The lowest counting floor score is 13.75. The gymnasts with higher than 13.75 at championships were Tiana Sumanasekera, Joscelyn Roberson, and Jordan Chiles that are not already on the above list. Replacing Jade Carey with Sumanasekera results in a team score of 175.95. Replacing Jade Carey with Roberson results in a 176.15, but replacing with Jordan Chiles gives a higher team score of 176.25.
176.25 | Vault | Bars | Beam | Floor |
Simone Biles | 15.80 | 14.65 | 14.80 | 15.20 |
Skye Blakely | 15.00 | 14.425 | 14.45 | 13.75 |
Sunisa Lee | 14.40 | 14.50 | 14.90 | 13.35 |
Kayla DiCello | 14.40 | 14.50 | 14.10 | 13.95 |
Jordan Chiles | 14.40 | 14.50 | 13.70 | 14.10 |
Event Scores | 45.20 | 43.65 | 44.15 | 43.25 |
That concludes today's analysis for team predictions for the Paris 2024 Olympics. From championships it looks like the most likely on the team are Simone Biles, Skye Blakely, Sunisa Lee, Kayla DiCello and either Jade Carey/Jordan Chiles. Jade Carey may have more of a shot towards a vault medal while Jordan Chiles may have more of a shot towards a floor medal. Now how Shilese Jones factors in if healthy come Olympic Trials that is a different blog post so stay tuned for the next post discussing overall performance across 2024.
